Hold the Ropes

When I was in bible school we had a time of prayer called “hold the ropes”. I always loved the term in regards to praying for and encouraging those on the mission field. It gave a real since of fighting the spiritual battle along side those we were praying for. Which in truth is exactly what we were doing.

I was recently reading a book that brought up the orgins of that phrase. In 1792 William Carey, was about to sail to spend a lifetime in India, he recruited his closest friends in Christ to support him. He shared, “I will descend into the pit, if you will hold tightly to the ropes.” Carey was willing to give his life away to reach the lost if his support team would pray, give, and keep him encouraged through correspondence.

Tyler and I want to say thank you for those that are holding the ropes so tightly for us! We need you, we are so grateful for you. We treasure every prayer, every word of encouragement and every personal connection!
